Silas is a wonderful painter (as discovered by Elisabeth) and has a collection of paintings in his room on the fifth floor of the manor, a lot of them portraying a young Nathaniel. He is later summoned again by Nathaniel and Elisabeth now to bargain for 10 years of Elisabeth's life.Īfter the events of the book he is once again summoned by Elisabeth and Nathaniel, however this time he only took a day each of their lifespan, which is believed to cause him some strain since it's been almost a decade since his last payment (from Alastair). He sacrifices himself to save Nathaniel's life. Nathaniel bargains 2 decades of his life to have Silas with him after the loss of his whole family. Silas had battled his own demonic nature to protect Austermeer from the Archon which is believed to change his summoning name to Silas as is hinted at towards the end of the novel. Directly after he is summoned back by Nathaniel. However upon seeing that not only Alastair would die carrying out the ritual, but Nathaniel as well, he proceeded to put a stop to it by killing Alastair (presumably by slitting his throat). In the accident that killed Charlotte and Maximillian Thorn he helped Alastair retrieve and carry their bodies, as well as helping him with the necromantic ritual to try and resurrect them. Silas has served emperors and kings before serving Nathaniel, Alastair and Clothilde in House Thorn and is feared in The Otherworld.
